So, for the last few years the local government has been talking about constructing an honest-to-goodness beach at the lake. Long strips of uninterrupted sand, a fishing pier, all that stuff. Great, I thought, that'll be fun.
Right now, though? It looks like ass.
So we spent a lot of time in the woods.
I also have a short video I took of the woods. You can't really hear her, but my mom calls me Little Red Riding Hood at some point.
Show us a picture of why you love the ocean.
Truth be told, I'm not a huge fan of the ocean. I mean, oceans are cool and all, but I have my own private "ocean" right by my house. My "ocean" has none of that nasty salt. You can swim without gagging on salt water, it won't be painful if you have razorburn or a mosquito bite that you've been scratching, and your glasses won't be coated in a salty film at the end of the day. True, we don't have the wide variety of seashells and sharksteeth, but you never have to worry about jellyfish or crabs or other malicious creatures of the deep.
Yesterday was overcast and drizzly. I was in kind of a sad mood because my brother left for school that morning, so the clouds matched my mood. Sometimes overcast, rainy days make me want to walk all over the place, fill me with an energy. So I walked to the lake and back and took some pictures.
The walk down is quite lovely in spots, like a few overgrown meadows.
The Lake itself was very still and pearly.
Somewhat marring the peace of it all was the huge amount of big, dead fish. The breakers were quite vivid against the water. This picture captured a little bit of it.
On the way back I got a nicely blurred picture of my meadow.
For my birthday a few weeks ago, I visited my best friend who is living in D.C. for an internship.
It was a lot of fun, especially the day we spent at Mount Vernon, George Washington's home. The house was very cool. It's actually made of wood, but Washington had it cut and sanded to look like brick. A few days before that, we had a visit from my aunt and cousins. We went down to the pool, which didn't last all that long. It was chilly! And windy!
