The seventh season of "American Idol" premieres tonight. Will you be watching, or are you over it?
In years past, I've been a sporadic watcher. I would watch some audition stuff, and most of the Top 12 stuff. To be honest, I'm not sure why I watch it. I don't even like most of the performances, and after awhile all that fluffy glorified-karaoke makes my head hurt.
And yet, I still watch.
I'm not really feeling it this year, though, so we'll see. The auditions have become overridden with the attention-whores, so those will almost certainly be skipped this year.
What was the best movie you saw this year?
Okay, I'm not really going to answer this question properly. Instead, I am going to out myself as a total geek and let everyone know that today marks six years since I saw The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring for the first time.
To be fair, it's an easy day to remember, being New Year's Eve and all, but these movies and books took up the greater part of three years for me. It solidified the blooming friendship I had with my now best friend, it introduced me to internet community, and it moved me in countless ways. I was a little over 13 when I saw it for the first time, and it gave me something exciting to spend my teenage energy on. It was also right after 9/11, and it gave me something reassuringly black-and-white, reassuringly courageous and noble. Deep love of the books and movies took me to the end of my sophomore year, and they hold a special place in my heart still.
So for me, it's my "best film", now and always.
What work of art (film, book, record, whatever) changed your life?

This seems to be one of those questions that makes the rounds every few months or so. I don't think I've answered it yet, though, so here we go.
It sounds silly (even to me!), but The Lord of the Rings did change my life. Well, okay, my reaction to it changed my life, but it was the catalyst. It cemented the friendship between my best friend Meg and me, it got me interested in acting, which was one of the biggest and best parts of high school for me, and through LoTR I was first introduced to internet community, something that continues to be important to me.
It was a nealry perfect set of movies that came out at exactly the right time in my life. So yay for LoTR!
If you could perform alongside any artist (actor, dancer, musician, etc.), who would it be, and what would you perform?

It would be very cool to go back in time and be an extra or something in The Lord of the Rings. I mean, the whole production employed like a billion people, I'm sure they could fit me in somehwere!
I would also probably die of happiness if I got to be some random person on Scrubs, or The Office, or House. Idiot clinic patient, dying person, UPS girl, I don't care. Ooh! Or perhaps the fourth Mrs. Wilson!
Which TV show never "jumped the shark"?

Is it still too soon to say Scrubs? They're on their last season now, and still making good episodes. True, the last few years haven't been quite as good as the early seasons, but it's been on for seven years now. It's goofy and different and sometimes touching. Plus, Turk and Carla have the best relationship on TV. They have realistic struggles but have never fallen into that trap of nagging and cheating and fighting.
Okay, this isn't the best illustration of their love for each other, but it's frickin' hilarious.
Where is the farthest you have ever been away from home? Did you get homesick?

The farthest away (location-wise) from home I've ever been was when I went to Italy. During that trip I was not homesick at all, which was great!
Homesickness was a problem for me when I was young, and can still rear its head now and again. I just don't like changes, and being so close to my parents (especially my mom) made it tough, too. Plus I was a bit of a worrier, and when I worry it goes right from my brain to my body.
