Uninspired

I want to post something, but I'm feeling a little uninspired. Plus, my life is boring. :-)

(Seriously, how do people find interesting things to say to each other? Sometimes I feel like a very boring person, or at least someone who sucks at small talk.)

Today is a dreamy, rainy day, which is kind of nice. I wish it would thunderstorm; those are fun.

Here is how you get good at small talk.

Eavesdrop.

People talk about the oddest subjects. Then you can talk about what you heard, or maybe even look it up first. If you bring up random yet interesting-sounding stuff, the other person will usually respond and start to move things along.

Either that or get good at asking questions. That's good for dates, too, because then you can just look interested and ask them about details, etc. when it seems appropriate. You might even find you *are* interested. And then you become interesting. ;-)

But of course, some days are just boring no matter how interesting you are.

Sometimes I wonder how people manage to talk to each other as well. I have this one friend who I have great conversations with, but it's much easier to IM and text him, because we can have pauses to think of new things to discuss. Conversation just isn't like that!

It is strange.
