QotW: My Go-To Movie

Comments

Missed House this week. The new Monday slot has me all ferklempt.

As for escapist films, TLotR for me too. I get emotional as well, but those elephant creatures more than make up for it. Too, too cool.

Good heavens.

Yes, indeed. I've watched it twice now. I have a lot of go-to movies, I suppose. Lots of old ones. Innocent and happy.

Old movies are great. This isn't old on a grand scale, but the roomie and I just watched The Sound of Music. What a great movie. Very cheerful, except for the whole Nazi thing.

Have you seen the short video on Fox's website about the directing of Monday's episode? It's really, really cool. They talk some about the stunts used for the bus scene. I'm not usually into that stuff, but it was really interesting and impressive.

The oliphants are very cool. I have to say, though, that one of my very favorite parts of RoTK was when they flung the heads into Gondor with the catapaults. Gruesome, but kind of awesome.

Very cheerful, except for the whole Nazi thing.

Right, that's just such a pain.

I'm not either, but if you thought it was interesting, I'll definitely watch it.
This week's House is the first in a long time that I am going to re-watch. So awesome!

About a Boy is a great go-to movie. Actually I realized over the weekend how ridiculously fond I am of Hugh Grant in certain things. Music & Lyrics was in the cheapo-DVD rack at Target and I snapped it up immediately. Usually I have nothing to do with romantic comedies but certain ones containing Hugh Grant are apparently irresistible to me. I have no idea why. But About a Boy, Love Actually, and now Music & Lyrics are all very much go-to movies for me.
Oddly enough when I was looking on youTube for the casablanca clip it had a clip from an episode of house where he uses the lines from the end of the movie almost word for word to get rid of a 17 year old who likes him. It was very funny, it's the first time I've seen any of it. :)
Oh yeah! I remember that. I only got that it was from Casablanca at the very end. Very embarassing.
:) Hehe. I like the dry kind of humour of it. And the knowing way he says it'll make sense when she's older.
