QotD: Neurotic Behavior
What's the one thing you're most neurotic about?
Oh, so many things. I'm just naturally neurotic. :-)
I have a thing about feeling symmetrical. My glasses must sit correctly on my face, it bugs me if one sock feels thicker than another, etc. Sometimes if one hand touches something cold, I'll touch it with the other hand as well.
When I was a kid I was obsessed with everyone else doing "the right thing", whether that be coloring in the lines or being nice to the other kids. I don't think I was mean or bossy to my classmates, it would just unsettle me if they didn't do things correctly. I'm still a bit of a silent control-freak on group projects and stuff.

Thank goodness someone else does. :-)
I have gotten better as I've gotten older, but feeling balanced or symmetrical or whatever is still an important feeling for me.
I know exactly what you mean about touching something cold. I'm the same way.
Strangely, I don't like art or my furniture or anything to be symmetrical. ME, however, must be equal on both sides.
Christopher Loyd, by the way, is my brother. Perhaps this runs in our family...
And that's two! Excellent.
Interesting thought about a genetic component. I'll have to ask my brother and dad if they feel that way. I know my mom doesn't, because she would always marvel at my pickiness as a kid! :)
I can't remember if I was mad about symmetry when it came to other people's colouring, but I believe I remember being fairly obessive about colouring in the lines for my own things.
And yes, I am also a silent dictator for group projects. I've had to teach myself to care a lot less so I don't drive other people insane.
